CWE are a TrusMark registered provider in the Swindon and surrounding areas with retrofit assessments in accordance with PAS2035 regulations.

At CWE as Retrofit Professionals, our goal is to assist you and equip you with the knowledge and insights about your property, that you need to make informed decisions regarding your home's retrofit journey.

A Retrofit Assessor is responsible for visiting the site to carry out the initial assessment and collecting key information about the property to enable the Retrofit Coordinator and Designer to compile a Whole House Retrofit Energy Improvement Plan.

A Retrofit Assessor plays a vital role in the retrofitting process by acting as a key link between the various stakeholders involved in the project. Although the homeowner can instruct the Assessment, it is usually done in conjunction with the Retrofit Coordinator.

The primary responsibility of a Retrofit Assessor is to conduct comprehensive assessments of existing buildings to gather all the relevant information to determine what retrofit measures are suitable for the property and feed this information back to the Retrofit Coordinator and Designer.

A thorough retrofit assessment encompasses several key elements, each of which is crucial in informing subsequent retrofit decisions.
These elements include:

  • Condition Report: The Retrofit Assessor conducts a detailed evaluation of the building's current condition, identifying any structural issues, energy inefficiencies, and potential hazards. This report serves as the foundation for developing retrofit strategies tailored to address specific challenges while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

  • Occupancy Assessment: Understanding how occupants utilize the building is essential for designing effective retrofit solutions. The Assessor evaluates occupancy patterns, lifestyle behaviours, and comfort requirements to recommend energy-saving measures that align with occupants' needs and preferences.

A Retrofit Assessor typically reports to a Retrofit Coordinator, who oversees the entire retrofit project and ensures its smooth execution in accordance with PAS2035 and TrustMark standards.

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) play a significant role in the retrofitting process by serving as a benchmark for assessing a building's energy efficiency and identifying areas for improvement. A Retrofit Assessor utilizes EPCs as a reference point to gauge the effectiveness of retrofit measures and track the progress towards achieving energy efficiency goals.

By conducting thorough assessments, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with standards like PAS2035 and TrustMark, Retrofit Assessors play a crucial part in delivering successful retrofit projects that contribute to mitigating climate change and enhancing the quality of built environments.
